| Mauser | Major global manufacturer. Standard 2" NPS valve, 150mm (6") fill cap. Some older models may use 225mm (8") caps — verify before ordering. |
| Greif | Standard dimensions and thread patterns. Compatible with all our universal accessories. Some models feature proprietary cage locking mechanisms. |
| Snyder / Bettix | North American manufacturer with standard specifications. Full compatibility with our valve, cap, and adapter inventory. |
| Werit | European manufacturer with standard DIN 61 cap threads and 2" NPS valves. Compatible with our full accessory range. |
| Thielmann | Stainless steel IBC manufacturer. Standard 2" connections. Our stainless steel valves and fittings are recommended for Thielmann tanks. |
| Custom / Unknown | Send us photos and measurements. We can identify the manufacturer and confirm compatible accessories in most cases. |
Recommended Maintenance Schedule
Regular accessory inspection and replacement extends the life of your IBC totes and prevents costly failures. Follow this schedule for optimal performance.
Monthly
Inspect valve for leaks and smooth operation. Check fill cap gasket for visible wear. Verify cage attachment to pallet is secure. Clean exterior of any spills or buildup.
Quarterly
Full gasket inspection — replace if compressed flat, cracked, or brittle. Test valve seal by filling with water and checking for drips. Inspect cage for new dents, rust, or weld cracks. Check pallet for cracks, splits, or rot.
Semi-Annually
Replace valve and cap gaskets preventatively even if they appear functional. Inspect bottle interior for staining, odor, or biological growth. Apply zinc spray paint to any cage rust spots. Verify pallet runner integrity and forklift channel clearance.
Annually
Consider full valve replacement if operated daily. Inspect bottle for UV degradation signs (chalking, brittleness). Evaluate pallet replacement for high-use units. Full pressure test for food-grade and chemical-grade applications.

Compatibility & Ordering Notes
IBC totes are manufactured by dozens of companies worldwide, including Schutz, Mauser, Greif, Snyder, and many others. While the 2" NPS valve thread and pallet footprint are highly standardized, some components — particularly fill caps, cage dimensions, and pallet styles — can vary between manufacturers and production years.
If you're unsure about compatibility, send us the manufacturer name and model number (usually printed on the cage or bottle label), and we'll confirm the correct parts for your specific totes. For large orders, we can arrange sample shipments so you can verify fitment before committing to full quantity.
All accessories are available for individual purchase or in bulk at volume discounts. We also include appropriate accessories with our reconditioned tote packages — ask about bundled pricing when ordering reconditioned units.
Same-day availability on most in-stock accessories. Specialty items (stainless steel valves, heated liners, aseptic liners, custom manifolds) may require 3-7 business days for fulfillment. Contact us for current availability on specific items.
Accessories FAQ
How do I know which valve my IBC tote needs?
The vast majority of IBC totes use a standard 2" NPS (National Pipe Straight) thread for the bottom valve. This is the same thread pattern used across Schutz, Mauser, Greif, Snyder, and virtually all other manufacturers. If your tote has the standard 2" NPS outlet, any of our 2" NPS valves will fit. If you are unsure, measure the outer diameter of the valve thread — 2" NPS has an OD of approximately 2.375 inches.
What is the difference between EPDM and Viton gaskets?
EPDM gaskets are the standard choice for food-grade and general-purpose applications. They offer excellent resistance to water, steam, ozone, and mild chemicals. Viton (FKM) gaskets are specified for aggressive chemical environments — they resist fuels, oils, solvents, acids, and high temperatures that would degrade EPDM. Use EPDM for water, food products, and general industrial liquids. Use Viton for hydrocarbons, solvents, and concentrated chemicals.
Can I add a second outlet to my IBC tote?
Yes. Our bulkhead fittings allow you to add additional inlet or outlet ports to any IBC tote by drilling through the HDPE bottle wall. We offer bulkhead fittings in sizes from 1/2" to 2" in polypropylene and stainless steel. Each fitting includes a hole saw for creating the opening and detailed installation instructions. For complex multi-port installations, contact us for guidance.
Do I need a vented cap or a sealed cap?
If you are dispensing by gravity through the bottom valve, you need a vented cap. The vent allows air to enter the tote as liquid exits, preventing vacuum lock. If you are using a pump for dispensing, a sealed cap prevents evaporation, contamination, and odor escape. Some sealed caps have a small air-bleed valve that provides partial venting for pump-assisted gravity systems.
How often should I replace IBC gaskets?
For general use, replace gaskets every 6-12 months as preventive maintenance — even if they look fine. EPDM gaskets develop compression set over time and gradually lose their sealing ability. For food-grade applications, replace every 6 months. For chemical applications with Viton gaskets, inspect quarterly and replace at the first sign of hardening, cracking, or swelling. Gaskets are inexpensive — replacing them preventatively is far cheaper than cleaning up a leak.
Will a heating blanket work in extremely cold conditions?
Our standard 120V IBC heating blankets (1,440W) can maintain liquid temperature above freezing in ambient temperatures down to approximately 0 degrees F (-18 degrees C). For colder environments, our 240V blankets (4,800W) provide more heating capacity. For extreme cold, pairing a heating blanket with an insulation jacket provides the best results. The insulation reduces heat loss while the blanket maintains temperature.
Can I use a liner to convert a chemical-grade tote for food use?
An FDA-approved LDPE liner creates a complete barrier between the liquid and the HDPE bottle, which theoretically allows a chemical-grade tote to hold food-safe products. However, for regulatory and liability purposes, we recommend using food-grade totes for food applications and using liners as an additional safety measure — not as a sole means of achieving food-grade status. Check your local regulations before using liners for this purpose.
Do you ship accessories separately from totes?
Yes. Accessories can be ordered and shipped independently of tote purchases. Small accessories (valves, caps, gaskets, adapters) ship via USPS, UPS, or FedEx with typical delivery in 2-5 business days. Larger items (heating blankets, mixers, pallets) ship via freight. Same-day pickup is available from our Detroit facility for all in-stock accessories.
